Collage- Vacation
I created this collage in Photoshop using many pictures that I took on a cruise vacation. I first took a photo of the boat and pasted a photo of two wave runners over the photo of the boat so it would apear like the wave runners were in the ocean next to the boat and the beach was in place of the road. Then i cropped a picture of my friend dancing and placed it on top of the boat so it looked like she was part of the boat like the tall satellites in the back. I also cropped a picture of me and my firend on one of the islands and connected the tree we were standing next to in the picture to the top part of the tree in the first photo of the boat that i started out with. It also appears that we are standing on the beach sand from the wave runner photo. I placed a picture of the beach we went to in Labadee to go along with the theme of the collage. I also pasted a picture of my family at the fabulous dinner on the ship in the sky with dots connecting to the ship so it appears like you can see whats going on inside the ship. After I was done pasting I typed my theme "Vacation" in Illustrator and placed it across the ship. My collage represents one of the very fun cruise vacations that I enjoyed. I was happy with the outcome of my collage because it contains exciting memories that I will always remember. I probally could have added more photos but i like how each photo fit to make the outcome almost like a secne.Tuesday, October 28, 2008
Typography

Andrea and I worked in illustrator creating the words mirror and expansion. We first typed the words out then used different tools to change the look of the words to fit their meanings. For the word expansion we started the letter E small to represent expansion with the letters of the word. We then dissorted the letters to appear as if they were expanding into a different form. We also put the word on an angle to show the word expanding from small to large. For mirror we typed the word twice and rotated one of the words to reflect the other just like a mirror would. Then we applied the gradient tool to each of the letters so they would have highlights and shadows. We did the same to the mirror reflection and had the outcome of the word with its reflection. I enjoyed creating typography words with Andrea because we were able to bounce ideas off eachother to see what would look good to best reprosent the words.

Matisse and Picasso Illustrator Practice
The image that I created in illustrator reflects Matisse's style of art. The face that I created by using the brush and pencil tools is almost like a symbol of a face beacuse the features aren't realistic. After i completed the face i added stars around it like Matisse had done in one of his pieces. When creating the face I tried to make the physical features more realistic than Picasso's cubism style but still unique and different from a human face. My image didnt come out how I pictured it but I still like my outcome. I wanted my image to look more like a symbolic version of a human face. I chose the colors purple and green because they are bright and together catch your eye. Overall my impression of a face came out looking almost like an example face from MAC makeup. I am happy with my Matisse/ Picasso practice image.Tuesday, September 30, 2008
Self portrait

I created two different self portraits. One in a negative effect with my favorite colors pink and green and the other in a more realistic style with emphasis on the color of my eyes. To create these images i first took a picture of myself and changes them using filters on photoshop. Once I played around with all the different textures and effects that I could use to change my portrait, I found effects that worked best for my image. The first one I used the negative glow and the second artistic paint bush effect. After i distorted my look in the first image I changed the color to represent myself. In the second I used the brush tool to paint my eyes a dark green so they would stand out in my new image. I created two images beacuse I enjoy changing pictures and couldnt decide between the two that I created. I was happy with the results of both images they are unusual but both reflect my personality.

Surrealism

I created this surrealistic image by taking different objects from other pictures. It is an image of the horizon with mountains, a moon and the sky. In the center of the picture is two trees both dissorted and irregular. I started out with the water and the sky and added an upside down tree which was in color. Then i found a black and white tree that was right side up and paste that on top of the upside down tree. I changed the look of the black and white tree to match the almost swaying look of the upside down tree. Next I paste in mountains and the moon and changed the look of those objects a little to correspond with the surrealistic image I was creating. I added a few more clouds at the bottom that matched with the mountains. Once all my objects were changed and distorted I liked the outcome of this new image. The image that I created is something you'll never see, it makes you look twice. I am very happy with my surrealistic image.

To create this image, I frist found a picture of the intense ocean waves and uploaded it into photoshop. Next i found a picture of a sea otter floating on its back in a river. I selected the otter image and layered it on top of the ocean waves. So the waves could be visible i earsed some of the river from the otter image and lowered the cpacity. This way the ocean and the otter were both visible. I transformed the otter straight on the page and was happy with the outcome. I think my image came out unique and I am happy the way I created it. Next time I will try to change the colors around a little to make my image more interesting.
